A while back I wrote a post about the Foreign Credentials Referral Office - FCRO.

Seems like individuals who wants to immigrate in Canada needs to visit this site again, since credentials assessment may form part of the Permanent Resident Visa application in the near future, to read full article click this link from the Source Minister Kenney proposes to assess foreign education credentials before skilled workers arrive

Other than their proposed changes which was enumerated in my post;

Proposed Changes on Canada FSW points system - what you should do

Credentials assessment may form part of the Federal Skilled workers application process, this was mention in the publications of Citizenship and Immigration Canada recently.

Credentials assessment is a step in taking the licensure examination in Canada.

Like anywhere in the world, individuals in regulated professions must take a board exam or licensure  exam and pass it, so that they will be allowed to practice their professions in Canada.

Before you take the exam, an applicant must have their education and work experience assessed at the regulatory body of their profession in the province they wish to reside.  In Canada you can only practice your profession in the province where you are licensed.

The instructions and requirements in getting your credentials assessed is different per province, to find out the specifics you have to go to the website of the regulatory body in the province you want to live in.

When you go to the Foreign Credentials Referral Office - FCRO website look at the upper right corner of the site you will see the Occupational facts click on the arrow choose your profession, after submitting look for the regulatory body in the province you wish to reside.
